We did it! We did it!

We all made it to church this morning. Together. All four of us. We were all bathed, dressed, hair brushed and fed before leaving our house. This is a milestone for us, for sure!

Sure, we’ve all four been to church together before. But I really felt like I had “it” together this morning. Such a rare occasion for me as a mommy. The girls were wearing matching outfits (oh how I love having two girls!) and Little Sister actually took a nap while we went to lunch with April & Brandon. Oh lucky us to have such good friends and good girls!

Today is a special day. Not because it’s the Super Bowl (which I could care less about and couldn’t even tell you who is playing) but because it’s my one and only niece’s birthday. We cannot wait to go see Ashley Brooke. Oh, she’s the big sister Big Sister never had. And she’s like the little sister I never had. I love, love, love this little girl. She used to sleep with me a million years ago when I still lived at home. She would spend the night with me when I had my own apartment. I took her shopping, to movies, out to dinner. Just the two of us. She was my practice daughter. I miss those times terribly. She adores my children, as much as I’ve adored her. And today we celebrate her 10th birthday.

I remember the day she was born, I was a sophomore in high school and it snowed. A snow day! We were out of school when she was born. I was there to see this itty bitty 4pound 9ounce baby being brought into the nursery. She was beautiful. Actually, she was a little alien looking and scrawny, but she was new and fresh and the closest thing to God I had ever seen before. She was perfect.

And now, oh my goodness, she’s 10!

I’m sure there will be some pictures to come!
