What can we do?

Sponsor a child online through Compassion's Christian child sponsorship ministry. Search for a child by age, gender, country, birthday, special needs and more.“Every three seconds a child under age 5 dies from poverty-related causes that Compassion’s ministry is skilled at preventing. But it takes only one voice — yours — to fight poverty.”

Tonight, J & I are picking out our own little one to sponsor through Compassion. I am so excited. I’ve been with a heavy heart the past week trying to find what my family can do to show love and sacrifice for someone else. What better way than to show our girls how blessed they are and that they are called to bless others. It’s $32/month. That’s not going out to eat. That’s not buying a shirt at Old Navy. That’s not buying something on ebay. That’s eating a few pb&j’s for lunch instead of McDonalds. It’s not a hard thing to fit in one’s budget.
I can’t imagine looking in my girls’ eyes, hearing their hungry cries and not being able to do anything for them. The heartbreak a mother goes through to see her child struggling is not meant to happen.
God has given us all (all of us who are sitting, reading on their computers, having internet access) the opportunity to show Mercy and Kindness and Grace to our fellow brothers & sisters in Christ.

Won’t you join me on this amazing adventure? What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Check back here on the 14th of every month to see how our experience is going

Also, there is a whole group of bloggers who have traveled to Uganda. Check out their blogs to see more, learn more, and have yourself a heavy heart to share your blessings.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. … Defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

AMEN AMEN AMEN!! I tryed to talk Brandon into letting us sponsor one more child from Uganda but he said we have to wait until we’re debt free! I can’t wait. I want to sponsor 3 when we’re debt free! :o) I’m so proud of you two! That’s exactly. We have so many options as to what we can sacrifice to help these children and families. Our contributions are often more than the parents make working in one month. It REALLY makes me wanna go over there and stay and help. Im not kidding. If I could talk Brandon into it, prayerfull of course, I’d go. I’d miss Blue Coast Burrito but, I’d go. It really be bad if I ever went on a mission trip over there…I don’t know that you could get me to leave & Im not exaggerating…but, don’t tell Brandon cause he’ll know Im serious and won’t let me go :o)

YAY!!!!! I’m so excited every time I read about someone deciding to sponsor.

I’ve met both my sponsored kids and there’s not a doubt in my mind it’s changing their lives.
