Busy bees

it's finished! We had a wonderful weekend. We finally finished painting the kitchen. I, personally, love it. J is still not feeling the color. But c’mon, we waited three years to finish painting the kitchen, so I think it was time to bite the bullet. We have a smallish galley style kitchen with an “eat in” on one side, then a doorway to the dining room. When we first bought the house I thought I wouldn’t mind the kitchen style so much, but now I’m ready for a much larger kitchen with an island and lots and lots of counter space. But, it’s a wonderful first “real” kitchen and much bigger than any apartment kitchen I ever had.
above the sinkHere is another picture of the other side. I really think the color turned out nicely and with all the bright white cabinets it’s not too dark. I’m just glad to see the beige be gone. It’s slowly leaving the house! I’m sure by the time we’re ready to sale we’ll have just painted all the room the way I’d like.
It is much harder to paint when there are two little ones. Especially when one of them still wakes frequently to nurse at night. I was dead on my feet at church on Sunday. Thankfully, the girls took long naps in the afternoon and J & I were able to finish painting and get some much needed snuggling time.

I was just delivered with the news that my sweet, dear husband is going to be leaving the girls and I. To go on a business trip. For four days. This is going to be a struggle for me. I really rely on him when he gets home in the evenings to help with baths and bedtime. Oh, Big Sister is going to be missing him so much! I’m going to have to work hard at wearing her down so she’ll be easy to fall asleep at night. If there’s one thing that we’ve never been good at - it’s putting the girls to bed. Big Sister nursed to sleep til she was about 16 months old. Little Sister still does. Big Sister has story time, prayers, then Daddy rocks her and tucks her in. She does NOT like it when Mommy does. It’s special Daddy time.
The few times J has gone out of town we’ve done okay. I let Big Sister skip nap so she’ll fall asleep early after dinner. I don’t know if I can do that four days in a row though! So, prayers would be accepted and appreciate in the next week.

But we do have a pay off coming! J’s big project he’s been working on the past two years is finally coming to a close. And with that, comes a vacation (for the girls & me, work for him) to Destin, Florida. We’ll be staying a condo for two or three weeks (free!) right on the beach. The only downside is that it will still be March, not the warmest beach weather. But it will be fun to take the girls out to the sand. Big Sister hasn’t been since she was hanging out in the womb. Little Sister has never made the trip with us. My secret wish is that this trip gets postponed another month or two so then it will be warm enough to play in the water some. But, a free trip is a free trip and I won’t turn my nose up at it!

Okay, this is more rambling than a real post of anything interesting!

I find it tough when my hubby goes away too! I really miss the extra evening help.

I LOVE the color! I love the contrast between the white cabinets and the walls, it’s beautiful :-) I think it’s a great choice, hopefully it will grow on him (and the thought of not having to do it all over again!).

Definitely sending some prayers for those 4 days away! But that FREE beach vacation will be a nice treat later on :-)

Your kitchen looks gorgeous! I love the color of the walls, especially with the black frame above your sink.

Weight loss: I don’t loose weight naturally while breastfeeding either. I have to wrok REAL REAL hard, and even then it’s not a significent loss. I joined Curves when my youngest was 4.5 months old. By working out, I lost 7 pounds in two months, but then once my body was used to the higher level of activity, I stopped loosing. When he weaned himself at 11 months, I started the Curves diet (eating healthy and limiting calorie intake - which is 1500-1600, except the first week at 1200). But I only made it through the first week. :) Thus, the restarting. I have found that it’s the hard work of watching what I eat and how much that makes me loose. Maybe that’s what makes it hard to loose while nursing… not being able to limit calorie quite as much.

During my next pregnancy and after birth, I want to work at maintaining my healthy eating habits, upping the calories to feed baby, but not overeating… and see if that makes a difference. I tend to gain a lot during pregnancy and being under 5 foot makes it hard to hide extra pounds.

I’ll be praying for you while your husband is away. I think it should be a universal rule that husbands are not allowed to spend a single evening or night away from the wife. LOL! I found out this past fall, when my husband was taking classes after work, that single parenting is NOT for me.

Ok, I guess this comment is long enough. :~)
