days two & three - still winning

Because Big Sister went to bed at 7pm Tuesday night, she awoke bright and early at 6:30. We just don’t do 6:30 in the morning. Until my little clock has a 7 on it, I’m pretty nonfunctional. Luckily, after two very strong cups of coffee I was ready to start the day.

First, we snuggled and ate breakfast on the couch watching a little Cailou. I know, I know, I’m a terrible mother for feeding my child breakfast in front of the tv, but seriously, who hasn’t? And if you haven’t than just wait… one day you will and you’ll be unable to pass judgment again!:) After a little while, Little Sister woke her sleepy head up and we all played with playdough for a while, cleaned up the kitchen, played blocks, dressed Little Sister up, dressed Big Sister up, put on regular clothes, made a few phone calls, nurse Little Sister down for her nap. Then Big Sister and I played puzzles, read 80-something books, ran around outside for all of two seconds (too cold!), played Candy Land, played checkers. Then Little Sister woke up, and that’s when I finally took a shower. Little Sister in the bouncer and Big Sister happily watching Word World on PBS. She absolutely loves this show, and asks for it ALL DAY long, “When’s Puppy coming on?” She might have a slight addiction to tv since we sat and watched it for three days straight when Little Sister came home from the hospital. But a sleep deprived momma can only do so much…

So, after a shower and getting ready, my FIL showed up an hour early to keep Big Sister while I took Little Sister to the doctor for her four month check up. He proceeded to take a nap. Why? Because that’s what he does. He’s a napper. So, I prayed he’d stay awake long enough for my MIL to get there (she was at a Bible Study).

So the doctors appointment went a little like this:

Little Sister in the BEST mood ever. Weighs in at 13lbs 3oz, is 24&1/4 inches long. She’s in the 10% for her weight, just below 50% for her height. She’s a little girl, like her sister. Dr. C said she looks great, she’s meeting all her milestones on target, is proud to see that I’m still breastfeeding. Asked if we’d started solids, told him no, not until atleast 6 months. Recommended a drop for vitamin D, but I’m going to read about that first. Then the nurse came in. I really love our pediatric nurse. She’s always so sweet to the girls. First we had the rotovirus oral medication. Then, poor Little Sister had three shots. Two in her right leg, one in her left. And she cried so hard. Much harder than Big Sister ever did. It absolutely broke my heart. I tried to nurse her afterwards to calm her down but she wanted nothing to do with it. I put her clothes back on and tried again and she nursed, calmed down, and was finally content. I put her in the carseat and we left.

Man it’s alot harder to do this without my husband. He’s always here to help me out. Always here to comfort us girls, always here to lend a helping hand. I have truly missed having him here (although our house is cleaner, weird).

Little Sister slept from 3-5:30 yesterday. Big Sister went to church with her friend Mari, so I could have lots of snuggly time with Little One. Oh man, I miss having all my attention to one child. I wouldn’t trade having two for anything, but I do miss being able to give the baby my full attention.

Okay, so it’s day three. J called lastnight to tell me he’d be home TONIGHT! Yay! So, I just have about 12 more hours of this single mommy business and then it’ll get back to normal around here.

The thing is, though, the girls have been going to bed earlier, I don’t have J to talk to at night so I clean and go to bed earlier, the house is cleaner because we don’t have daddy’s shirt hanging on the back of the chair and his 800 different outfits he wears a day. So it’s been nice having one less person to pick up after… but not worth it at all.Big Sister is going to play at Mari’s house. Little Sister might hang out there for a bit. I have NOTHING to do though. So I think I’ll just bring Little Sister home to play with. But I dunno… We’ll see.

Oh, and we’re probably moving to Huntsville in the next 12 months. Ack. I hate change.

/end ridiculously long post about my boring days
