On an island without a map
The days have been interesting. J gets up before the crack of dawn and sneaks out without waking us [all] up. He’s a thoughtful kind of guy. His project is running well, but that’s about all I know. They should be doing the real run early next week.
The girls and I made it down to the water today! We walked about a 1/4 of a mile down then came back. I wore my awesome pouch sling from lucky baby. And many retired ladies commented on how lovely and handy it was. And yes, on Okaloosa Island, that’s all there is. Retired folk. Which is fine, I’m over the spring breakers deal. I guess I’m officially old. When one hits the hay before midnight on the beach, one becomes old. Isn’t that an old chinese proverb or something?
After we walked on the beach (holding hands!!), the girls and I went in search of a Super Wal-Mart. To buy diapers. And wipes. Vacations are a little different now that I have children. I didn’t realize how different it was until today.
We were on the search for a Whataburger, because at one time I thought their burgers were the best. After driving for 30 minutes off the island and into Destin, I found one. It was nasty. The girls were cranky (mommy too) and we ate, nursed in the car, came home and all took a lovely two hour nap.
I awoke with a 101 temperature. So that’s fun.
This isn’t the vacation I was hoping it would be. But yeah, just laying on the couch in the condo is MUCH better than laying on the couch back home. The view is just amazing!
now… pictures!

Look at our our Big Little Sister is doing now! She started sitting on her own for several, several minutes on her birthday! 5 months old. Oh my!

The view out of our condo yesterday. The wind was blowing so hard that it was too painful to make it down to the beach. I honestly saw no more than 10 people the entire day out on the beach.

You can tell how windy it was by how quickly all the clouds went away.

My favorite two people doing one of my favorite things. I should have put my happy tail next to them and napped as well. Real mommies of two take naps whenever the opportunity arises!

Our first sunset on the beach. Minus J because he was working hard for this free trip.

Little Sister & Mommy enjoying the windy sunset. By the way, holding a baby and trying to take a self portrait is hard work.

See what I mean?

My Big Girl!

“The sun is melting!”

Mommy & Big Sister enjoying the sunset! And my double chin is enjoying it as well…

completely melted into the ocean…
I didn’t take a single picture today. I stink. I didn’t take it down to the water, and I didn’t take it with us on our three hour tour for a darn cheeseburger.
