Fitness Friday - #1

First, I have to show you what my girls are doing right now:

napping together

holding hands

As I was getting Little Sister down for a nap, I heard kitchen chairs being moved across the floor. A few minutes later Big Sister walks in with a giant Candy Cane left over from Christmas. I tried so hard not to laugh. When she came in to snuggle and “rest” she had sticky all over her mouth. She said, “Oh mommy, I made a mess”. Yup, she did.
Then she held her Little Sister’s hand until they both drifted off to dream land.
I had just enough time to run upstairs to grab the camera, open the blinds just enough to get some light so I didn’t have to use the flash, and this is what I got:) Man, two of the cutest girls in the world napping together - what more could a momma ask for?

Oh, I know - to not be a heifer.

So, this is the first Fitness Friday (started by Natalie at ByeByeFatMom) And I just want to start this out by letting you know that I’m downing peanut M&M’s as I type this. So that can tell you so much.

I started out by drinking 120 ounces of water a day. I figured if I can get myself off of caffeine, or just soft drinks in general, my life and body would be much happier. I started on Tuesday. I did really great. Wednesday I did great too, but I had a Happy Meal on our way to church and drank a Dr. Pepper. Then yesterday, I drank all my water, but wound up drinking half a Dr. Pepper from Taco Bell that my husband brought home. So far today, I’ve had more than half my water (also known as a little more than 60oz) and not a single soft drink. But I am going to dinner with friends tonight, and that’s really my weak spot. I love fountain drinks. So. Much. And diet coke tastes like rock candy fizz.
As far as food - well, as you can tell, not going great. I’ve had a million salads, but Wed I had a chicken nugget happy meal, thursday night I had a chicken quesadilla from Taco Bell. So far today, I’ve had a cup of coffee and a tuna salad sandwhich (but we didn’t have any mayo so I used sour cream… I was impressed that it tasted as good as it did). Oh yeah, and half a bag of peanut m&m’s. Not the snack size either. The big whopping pounder.
I guess it’s safe to say that I’m not a winner.

But I did only set one goal, and that was to up my water intake and that I have. So I’m pretty proud of myself for that.

Next weeks goal is to continue with the water and write down EVERY little thing that I eat. This way, I can get a better understanding (and also hopefully this will be used as a scare tactic) of what all the junk is that I’m eating.
Also, to go on at least 3 one mile walks.

The End.

Your little girls are adorable, they look about the same age as my two girls. :)

You’re doing fine. I’m struggling with the snacking thing and water is my goal too. You’re drinking an impressive amount…I’m struggling to hit 64 ounces. So way to go on that! Good luck with your goals this week! Can’t wait to hear back next week!

    A) You can still have caffeine in things like iced tea or coffee if you absolutely need it. I have my two cups of coffee (or three if our day starts at 5:30am like today) in the morning and then just move on to my water jug. I know come summer that I WILL want some iced tea. Other than that, the ONLY available drink in our house is milk (I do have the occasional glass) and juice for FireDad (since BigBrother hates juice…sigh). I do allow myself ONE soft drink per week. Just because. And, since it’s not in the house, it’s not a temptation and thus a treat when we’re out!

    B) Make a commitment, now, to say NO to fast food unless it’s a salad. I haven’t had fast food since December 31st even though FireDad has and others I have been with have. (Of note, I do not count Chipotle as fast food but I’ve also only had it once since then in case it was “if-y.”) The commitment? Is hard. I won’t lie. FireDad worked late at the Ambulance company for someone yesterday and got home without eating dinner. I had to run to the store and picked him up some BK drive thru. It was FREAKING HARD not to order myself a huge Whopper. But I didn’t want to let go of my progress.

You’re doing fine. Keep up the good work. I am proud of you!!

I know this is a month late but I just wanted to say thanks for supporting us in Uganda. It was great to know we had friends out there praying and there for us. I just wanted to say thanks. H
