weekend fun

I know it’s already Wednesday, but I haven’t had a chance to write about our weekend. It was fabulous.

Friday night, our sweet friend April kept Big Sister while J & I went on a date. A real one. Like a really nice, fun date. It was great, I recommend going out on dates with your spouse. Seriously. J & I didn’t go out on a date after Big Sister was born until she was 14 months old. We went to see The Lion King and went to dinner at Kobe’s Japanese Steak House. It was fabulous. Like the best date night ever. With Little Sister, though, we’ve gone out on a few dates in her short 6 months of life. I don’t know what it is about me that just doesn’t like other people taking care of my kids. Maybe it’s because I do it better (ha) or it’s that I have terrible anxiety when I leave my children. I just don’t want them to cry for no reason. But they always do fine. It’s my issue not theirs.

But anyways, April kept Big Sister and I let my mom watch Little Sister. J & I went to The Macaroni Grill. Yummy. We only really had time to go out to dinner and afterwards it was raining and I didn’t want to run around in it. So, we went to pick up Big Sister who did not want to leave. You can find a picture of her here. And you can see why she didn’t want to leave her My Papril (that’s what she calls her). We got a phone call from my mom that Little Sister was upset. I didn’t leave enough milk with them and apparently Little Sister wanted to be a little piggy and the four ounces and carrots I left weren’t enough. So off we went across town to get her. She was fine when we got there but ate a whole bunch. We wound up staying at my parents house for some time and didn’t get home til after 10! That’s pretty tough for kiddies.

Saturday we had friends over to help build Big Sister’s new playset. I bribed our friends with a cookout and some of my awesome Taco Dip. It took a while longer than any of us had thought.

Sweet, sweet friends. Owen, Big Sister, Skyler

We’re so blessed to have friends to want to come over and help us. I know we’re already signed up to help any of these people move or paint. But that’s what we do as a family in Christ. These are my brothers and sisters, and I couldn’t be more thankful for them.
