Birthday parties and Big Girl Panties

I cannot believe that my two and a half year old and six month old get invited to more parties than my husband and I. Seriously, had I known I’d become way more popular with children, I would have had them earlier. Okay, not reall. I think birthin’ babies at 22 is as early as anyone needs to.  But honestly, we’re all about some busy weekends these days. And I love it. I love to see little girls blowing out three tiny candles, I love to see little boys dressed up in their space gear ready to take off for fun. It’s wonderful. I love this part of motherhood. I love to see all the smiles and cake and dressed up children. The playing, running, jumping, token after token at Chuck E. Cheese’s. Maybe it’s because I’m still so new at this part of motherhood, but I honestly love it. I adore trying to find that perfect gift for a little friend. I know J doesn’t love that part (remember how I told y’all he’s stingy - wait, he likes to be called frugal (ie cheap!)). Anyways, I love it. It’s fun and the absolute best part of birthday parties on Saturday- the way my kids crash and burn in the car on the way home. Giving momma time to do important things (like clean out the car and blog) and it gives daddy time to clean out the garage (why daddy’s enjoy this so much? I have no clue).

I wish I would have brought the camera in. But in the chaos of showing up at the mall on a Saturday afternoon - on TAX FREE weekend, I just left in the car. Our hands were full of poopy diapers (thanks Little Sister) and birthday presents. Oh, and little children.

Yesterday the girls and I went to Wal-Mart to load up on diapers. While I was loading our cart to the brim, Big Sister said, “I not wear biapers, I wear big girl panties”. Well, heck yeah. Sounds awesome. So, finally, we’re adventuring into FULL time potty training.

Big Sister was very interested back in September while we were waiting for Little Sister to break free from the womb. Everyone I spoke to told me not to even try, Big Sister would digress and want to wear diapers again like Little Sister. I think they were lying to me, though. So, we didn’t try it. Big Sister would pee and poop on the potty when she felt like it, but as Little Sister grew bigger and bigger and my feet got wider and wider, I decided to just be lazy and focus on getting Little Sister out of the oven. So, in her dear sweet time, Little Sister came, a day after her due date. And I entered in what is known as “the fog”. I didn’t get as down in the dumps like I did with Big Sister. I just couldn’t really function correctly and I had some major self diagnosed (because J doesn’t believe in depression or anxiety or medication) anxiety disorder. But I came back (finally, after six months).

Anyways, as Big Sister was telling me what a Big Girl she is now, we picked out some My Little Pony panties and a box of pull ups. I don’t plan on using pull ups unless we’re at church or out and about. And since I only recently came out of the fog- we don’t really go anywhere that requires all of us getting out of the car. And there’s only a few places I can buy things that have drive-thru windows.

So, yesterday we did Pull-Ups and she PEED IN THE POTTY every single time! Today we did Pull-Ups at Chuck E. Cheese’s and she PEED IN THE POTTY! Y’all don’t even know how excited I was. Of course, we forgot to take her to potty before we left the mall, so I’m sure she’ll not be dry when she wakes from her nap. But no worries - she peed in the potty four or five times already today! Now, I just have to get her to tell me that’s she needs to pee so I can be lazy again.

She’s wearing Big Girl panties, y’all. My little one is growing up!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Big Sister! Oh, and that’s something I taught her while she was over here! We had a nice long talk about it ;o)

That is so awesome about potty training! My oldest potty-trained FAST just this past January (at 2 1/2 years old). She likes the Disney Princess panties the best. Isn’t it so fun to have GIRLY-GIRLS?!

And the birthday parties… there is something so intoxicating, imaginative, innocent about little parties. I’m planning for her 3rd birthday and there’s just a sense of excitement in the air!

Isn’t it exciting when you the kids get the potty training down to a science almost? Sometimes I wondered if I was potty training myself at times! LOL
Have a great rest of the weekend!

I am SOOOO proud of Big Sister. That is so exciting!! It is so funny how the children decide when they are ready to start. And about the birthday parties…they have just begun!

So great Big Sister! Believe it or not, we are still trying to potty train. Ava hates panties!

My name is Aaron and I have 3 sisters. 1 older than me and 2 younger.my oldest sister alexis is real caring about my problem.a few years back my parents got in a wreck with me in the car and I sufferf severe nerve damage and I lost my bladder control.so you can guess I have to wear diapers.its embarrassing because I am ey and wear diapers everywhere like my little sisters who are 5.if it wasn’t for alexis I would be way to humiliated to go out in public.sometimes we do get in fights and since she is 16 she can easily over power me she makes me feel like a baby.but most of the time she is loving.
