Answers to those burning questions: part one

You have until tonight (Sunday) at 11pm to sign up for the most awesome giveaways! Here and Here.
I have really, really enjoyed all these questions! How fun and what a neat and easy way to get to know me better. Because I know that’s totally on your to-do list. It’s number 6.

Let’s start.

Christine wanted to know “what would you do if your husband didn’t like to eat most of what you want to cook? My husband mostly likes pasta with red sauce and some Mexican food. And steak. Most of the foods that I really like he won’t eat. What would you do?”

Good question. Actually, when J & I first got married he didn’t like alot of the things that I cooked. He still doesn’t like some things I make. Like mashed potatoes. Who on earth dislikes mashed potatoes? For a very long time I didn’t make them. But now I have sweet Big Sister who loves them as much as I do. Which will be terrible for her hips, but ya know, she’s two, so whatever. J loves Mexican food too and pastas. This must be a man thing. I would keep on making the things you love and the things he loves. Just alternate. We used to have Taco Tuesdays, which would be our Mexican food night. Then we’d have Pizza Fridays, a “J makes pasta night” and so on. Also, when I had more time on my hands, I would make up the whole two weeks menu on post it notes and let J pick what he wanted to eat that night. Hope that helps some!

Nessa asks: “My question is what made you start blogging? Oh, and I have another one too, lol. Do you ever just run dry on ideas to blog about?”

I started “blogging” ten years ago. I called it online journaling then. I started because I really liked playing around with html and learning basic web design. My then, high school boyfriend, let me have some room on his server and I started with an online journal. I always loved journaling, and thought that this would be a neat way to play around with layouts and things.
Yes, I do run out of things to blog about. That’s when I have you guys ask me questions!:)

Megan and I have known one another since about fourth or fifth grade. We went to high school together, too, but lost touch after senior year. She asks, “In what ways do you think you have changed since we were in high school? little girls?”

I think I have matured so much. After high school I really went off the straight and narrow. I did my share of sinning and probably a few others’ share as well. When I met J, things just changed. I finally felt what it was like to be in a “real” relationship. Real as in healthy. It was wonderful. It is wonderful. I think my heart has grown closer to God and I want to be in the center of His will, instead of in the center of my own. I don’t throw cow patties anymore, that’s for sure:)

Mandy says, “you are always such a great writer. I especially like to read your Monday post about your Christian walk. I always feel like I can relate to what you’re saying. Do you have some sort of journalism background? Or is it just natural talent?”

It’s just plain ol’ raw talent. Ha. No, I have no background in writing what-so-ever. My thoughts are not nearly as coherent as they ought to be, that’s for sure. But I do appreciate that you enjoy my writing, because I love to write. I’m so thankful that you can follow it!

Smiling Mom asks, “I’m new to your blog, and I noticed that you are a devout Christian. Were you raised Christian? Did you convert later in life?”

Yes I was raised Christian. I’ve always gone to church and have known God and my Bible stories. But I never had a close relationship to God like I do now. After J and I were married, we had a missed miscarriage and that was the darkest, deepest place I’ve ever been. I was very angry and mad about what happened and question how God could do that to me. And in His sweet, tender way He let me grieve and be mad, then he helped me get over my hurt and pain and show me His unbelievable love. My faith in Him grew tenfold and I know now, that He has a plan for my life. I may not like it always, I may not want to do what He says, but He knows far more than I do. And more importantly, He loves me and knows what is best for me.

That Girl (who is also hosting a giveaway) wants to know if I make money blogging.

No. I don’t. I wish I did. Because how awesome would it be to share my boring life with others and get paid for it. I would love to one day. But I currently do not. You can see that I do have BlogHer Ads on my site. But currently, that money is going right back into hosting fees & giveaways.

Mary@notbefore7 says,“my question is what is the “elusive” change you are thinking about making? (are you gonna answer yet?) How about this one just in case: What is one of your favorite motherhood moments?”

I’m not ready to share my elusive thoughts just yet. I did share them with my husband and Tiffany and they both think it’s a “great idea”. But I’m still waiting on God to do the work in my heart that needs to be done. And to give me more ideas and thoughts about this. It’s not as exciting as I make it out to be, trust me!
As for my favorite Motherhood Moments? I would have to say that they are when everyone else is sleeping and I’m nursing Little Sister. Or during the day when Little Sister has her morning nap and it’s just Big Sister and I hanging out. I love having one on one with the girls. And the laying with them when it’s quiet. Oh, I love that. I love to just look at their faces and wonder what God has in store for them. I pray for Little Sister when she nurses. I get to stroke her fuzzy little hair and just look at her be so peaceful. It’s just wonderful. And when Big Sister wants me to read to her. I love it. I just hold her so tight, because I know one day it won’t be cool to sit there. And one day she’ll go off to college (in Florida maybe?) and meet her husband (long lost Skyler?) and then I’ll be old and have grandbabies on my lap. And I’m not ready for grandbabies.

Kelsey Smith asks, “What are the top 5 blogs you HAVE to check daily?”

Boo Mama, I Should Be Folding Laundry, A Mom’s Heart, The Bayou Belles and Their Beau and Living To Love
Those are the ones I keep checking until they have updated. You can go here to see my most awesome blogroll

Deborah writes, “My question is how did you come up with the name of your blog?”

Well, when I decided to start my own public family blog, I didn’t want my name in it. I try not to use the girls’ names, my husband’s name and our last names very often online. People are crazy, but you can watch Dateline instead of listening to me. I wanted something that could change with our family, so http://extremelycutefamilyoffour.com probably wouldn’t work. Because one day we may be a family of five or ten (hahah). I asked for comments on my personal blog for names that would be good. The one I really liked was Afternoons and Coffee Spoons. Ya know, The Crash Test Dummies? Anyone? They are a hidden favorite of mine. Don’t laugh. It’s good stuff. Anyways, I thought that it might be too long, so I was trying to think short and easy to remember. At that time I was also looking through my Upper Case Living catalog and saw the “Love Laugh Love” saying over and over. It’s pretty much written on anything you see at home decor stores, so I thought atleast it would be easy to remember. And I changed Love to Blog because I’m oh so not clever.

Good questions. More to come!
