More answers to those burning questions: part two

Anita asks, “Okay, so my question is - when you were a rookie mom, what was the worst thing you did?”

Oh, Anita, I am still a rookie mom. I guess the worst thing (so far) is that I’ve let both my daughters roll off the couch when they were 4 months old. They both landed on pillows, but still… One would think I would have learned after Big Sister fell… ah, then one would be wrong.

Leah asks, “Will there be any more cute babies for you down the road?”

Oh Leah. You and your silly questions! I have no idea. Some days I want more babies. I love being pregnant, I love my daughters so much. I just don’t love that PPD that comes along for the first few months of their lives. It’s something that J and I will be in prayer about when the time comes.

Sarah is so silly and she says, “You seem to have it pretty together. Do you have a hard time finding time to blog? Do you feel you sacrifice somethings to blog? Or do you you have a fabulous system that allows you to blog and get all other responsibilities taken care of as well?”

Sarah hasn’t been paying attention! I don’t have it together, I don’t even pretend like I have it together. Right now, Big & Little’s laundry is on the kitchen table. I don’t think I’ve even opened the front blinds, Little Sister is still asleep, Big Sister is playing with the scanner next to me, begging for cookies. I blog when the girls are napping or after they’ve gone to sleep (or right now while one is still sleeping and the other is climbing on me). I don’t really feel like I’m sacrificing anything, since I love to blog. I just know that I have to be careful not to get sucked in to blog hopping, because I can do that for hours. In the morning when Little Sister is still sleeping, Big & I go upstairs to snuggle for a few, then we go down to fix breakfast and I do the dishes and start a load of laundry. Then we might come back up if Little Sister is still sleeping (because we are loud and the upstairs is a bonus room + our office room). If Big is doing some coloring at the desk then I’ll get on and blog. But I try my best to keep it when they are both sleeping.

Jill Williams(who is a Pampered Chef consultant if you need anything) asks, “My question is what is it you are being elusive about in the previous post”.

I cannot say just yet. But I promise, promise, it’s not that exciting!

Leigh Ann at MommaRoar asks, “When you were little, what did you picture yourself doing when you grew up?”

I always saw myself as a mom. I didn’t know that I wanted to be a Stay At Home Mom or not, but I knew in my bones that I wanted to get married and have children. I went through phases of wanting to be a teacher (does every little girl do that?). For the longest time I wanted to go into Forensics. I had a (unhealthy) love for murder mysteries when I was in middle school. Then in college I decided to go into social work, because you know, it’s a career in helping little children and my heart is with little children. But, here I am, staying home with my kiddies. Maybe when they are in school I will work? Maybe I will work part-time or maybe I will get in some of that very missed sitting around time.

Terri“My question is what do you mean by the tag line on your blog “official poster child for God’s grace”? Are you referring to something specific, or is that a general statement?”

My take on God’s grace is that’s it’s part of His forgiveness to us, His children. We are not blameless and pure, though we should be striving for that. But it’s by God’s grace that we are forgiven. And boy, He knows I need to be forgiven! It’s not just about my big sins (and there are more than I’d like to admit) but it’s for the little things to. For not having a happy heart, for not helping, for not being kind, for not being considerate. His grace allows me to keep going on, to keep trying and to keep loving with His love. God offers us all grace, all we have to do is accept it.

Megan writes, “My question for you is this: do you censor yourself when blogging? Do you anticipate comments (over your site or in person) that help you decide whether or not to post what you’re thinking?

Good questions Megan! There are so many things that I would love to stand on my soap box to talk about. But I don’t. I really want this blog to be something more than just me. I want God to be at work here and how can He be working if I’m spouting off things that are judgemental? And boy, do I have some judgements sometimes about certain things. There are certain things that are kind of off limits when talking with mothers. I really want to work on not being judgemental, so I will censor myself so that I can bring glory to God and not my ways of parenting.

Adena at Friendship Alley writes, “My question for you is have you found BlogHer Ads to be profitable for you? I used them for a few months and it just didn’t work out for me. Maybe I should’ve stayed with them longer?”

So far, Adena, I’ve only been using BlogHer Ads for a month. So I have no clue how they will be working for me. I say, stick it out. You’ll eventually make some money. Even if it’s $25 over six months… that’s $25 you didn’t have before!

Karen of Silly Monkeez writes, “Question: What is your favorite thing to cook for you children?”

I love to cook anything Big Sister will eat. Right now she’s on a raw broccoli kick, so I love to fix that for her (and how easy is that?!) She likes Crescent Chicken, and Iove it. Plus, she loves to help me cook, too. So that’s way fun for all of us.

Brandy W asks, “what is your favorite mothers day moment?”

My favorite Mother’s Day moment would have to be this years. It’s my first with having two daughters, and while we didn’t really “do” anything special. It was special because I have two beautiful daughters who love me and think I’m pretty awesome. And this may not always be the case forever, so I’ll soak it up as long as I possibly can!

Thanks for all the questions! Please, if you haven’t asked anything yet, please do! This is so much fun! Okay, enough with the exclamation marks!

    Another awesome QA love these!

  2. Sarah

Okay, compared to me, that sounds pretty together! I only asked because it is something I am terrible about… I have only been blogging for a little less than 2 months and I am soooooo addicted. Thanks for all your answers! This has been fun!

I love having found your blog at this time because I am getting to “know” you and your blog very quickly ;)

Great answers. Loved the blog censorship question - not letting the blog be a source for judgementalism.

    Fun stuff!
