There’s no place like home
I want to change everything in our house. I would like new furniture, new paint, new bedding, new shower curtain for the girls’ bathroom and fun things for our playroom/bonus room/ movie room. I would love to get J the leather “man’s chair” that he’s been wanting. I would like to add an extra bedroom to our house. I would like the office to not be upstairs where it is super duper hot in the summer and super duper cold in the winter. I would like to not have a deck - because it’s a pain. It just is. I don’t like it. I want a big spacious patio instead of a deck. I want potted plants (that will live!!!) and pretty patio furniture. I want daisies, or maybe something else. I want new carpet because it’s amazing what a two year old can do.
I want. I want. I want.
Something always happens to me this time of year. I don’t know what it is. But it’s at this right-before-fall time that I always want to move. But then I think of all the hassle. Having a perfect house 24/7 with two kids under three. Ha. Having to clean up the garage to show that two real cars could actually fit in there? Ha.
That along makes me love and appreciate our home and not want to move.
But we have a thing called Realtracs in our area that is a great MLS search. Love it. I get hooked on it and look for way too long at houses that are way too out of our price range. But man, they have everything that I want in a house.
Some of my wants?
- a [way]bigger kitchen. with an island. with a little sing in the island.
- a hearth room off of the kitchen.
- a real laundry room. Not a pass through to the garage like we currently have. I want it away from the kitchen, because I cannot stand to hear the dryer going. And in that laundry room I want front loader washer & dryer. In a pretty color. I’m almost convinced if I had non-white washer & dryer I would love to do laundry.
- a 4th bedroom (or more! why not?). I’d like a real guest room so that when Tiffany comes to visit, she and Jeremy will have a real place to sleep.
- a bonus room and a play room. We have a bonus room/play room. But I’d LOVE to have both, because that’s awesome. Awesome, I say.
- Trees in our backyard. I want big trees, which usually means an older house, but I want a NEW house with OLD trees. This is my dream and I can make it however I want.
- A pool. Because I love swimming, my girls love the water and I’m also almost convinced if I had a swimming pool I would swim laps. Hey, I did in high school.
I think that’s it. But see… my dream house has gone about $100,000 over our current price range. So, until my husband starts making more or I become a huge seller of Uppercase Living, we’ll be cozy in our current home.
And it is a nice home. It’s nice because there are some really sweet people who live here and who love it. Whenever I ask Big Sister if she wants to move to a bigger house she tells me “No. This is my home”.
And it is. Our very first home. We had our 4th anniversary of this house on the 18th. Just 11 more years of payments… oh man.
J was telling me yesterday we could have a bigger, nicer house if he worked more overtime or started doing some freelance engineering work. But what good is a bigger, nicer house if the one I want to spend my time with is no longer around? It doesn’t seem worth it to me.

A paid off house in eleven more years? Now that’s worth waiting for!

You know I saw the house you are describing in Orlando right next to the house we may be getting! Me and Jeremy will sleep anywhere, if we just get to spend time with you guys!!
