2008 Christmas Tour of Homes
BooMama’s Tour of HomesĀ & Julia’s Hooked on Houses
I hesitated in participating in this. Our church has a Lottie Moon Offering Tour of Homes to some of our church members homes to look at their decorations. These aren’t just homes, they are mini-mansions. Our home is their den.
However, it is our home and it’s where our memories are made. Where we celebrate the birth of the Christ child and where my heart is. It doesn’t matter the size of your home, the newness of your furniture or when the last time you cleaned the light in the dining room (apparently, it’s been a while for me!). The purpose of this event, I believe, is to share (not show off) what is fun and important to you. This is hard for me, I suffer from stuff-itis (the illness of loving stuff).
So, here is my home…

This is our little house. Normally there are candles lit in the windows, but this was the other night when it “snowed” big here in TN and the girls were sleeping so all the lights were out.

Come into our foyer and be greeted with “Merry Christmas” from Uppercase Living.

To the right is the dining room. This is our first year with a tree in here. I love it! You can see throughout our house that I am window treatment impaired. Only the girls’ rooms have curtains.

The dining room table is set with presents and a little note to Santa.

The theme in the dining room is “Joy”. This is my favorite little cookie ornament.

You may remember these little guys from Big Sister’s candyland birthday party. I reused everything from her party on this tree.

Come on into the kitchen and you’ll see our advent countdown on the pantry door. (this picture was taken a while back, I do realize there are only 10 days left til christmas!)

I have little counter space so I am unwilling to take up too much of it with decorations. Maybe in my “One day…” home.

Now you’ll come into the family room. Our fireplace & mantel. In our “One day…” home there will be no tv over the fireplace. Not a fan of this look.

The tree in the family room. We don’t have a theme for this tree. It’s all our favorite memories.
\
Like this, our first Christmas ornament ever purchased. I bought this on our honeymoon in the mountains.

This brown cross (and there’s another in the left upper corner) is from Bethlehem Market Place when we played the holy family. We did it twice, once with Big and once with Little. It’s a living Nativity, but it’s of the whole town of Bethlehem. It’s a really great experience. You can also see James’ first Christmas ornament that his mom gave us to hang on our tree.

Salt dough ornaments of our girls’ hands. LOVE this! And man, I’m going to cry and cry when they are adults and I’m putting those on our tree.

Big Sister made this ornament the other day. I love the home made ornaments the best.

The whole reason we are able to celebrate this special season!

I bought this our first Christmas at a craft show. Another one of my favorites.

Big Sister’s first Christmas Ornament

Little Sister’s First Ornament

The little cubby hole that has our nativity and my tiny little snow globe collection that is slowly growing each year.
And that’s it’s, y’all.
I hope you enjoyed a little peak into our home!
Have a very blessed and merry Christmas!!

What a lovely home! I love all of your decor, and especially like the wall inscriptions. I’ve considered doing the same but haven’t yet. But there’s still time between now and the big day, right? Thank you for inviting me into your home and Merry Christmas! ~Arleen

Oh Jill it’s all beautiful! I love the shelves with the nativity and “Wise men still seek Him” plate. I also love the homemade ornaments. They are so special
We went to the Bethlehem Marketplace today and came home with one of those crosses. The live nativity was my favorite part! I almost cried when I saw Addison’s reaction to seeing baby Jesus in “real life”. It’s almost like she understood that it’s not just some story that we keep telling her.

Love the colors. Love it all.
December 15th, 2008 at 6:51 am
Jill, like you said it’s not the size of your house. But still, you have a pretty awesome house! Be thankful you have a beautiful space of your own, and not living with the in-laws
That said, I love all your little touches of decorations. Want to come help me decorate whenever we have our own house? I mean, I can at least take care of the curtain part!
Also, how easily does the UP living remove from the walls? You have Merry Christmas up I see, so I’m assuming it’s not a big ordeal.
