I so graciously made my husband take me to see New Moon last night. I’ve read the Twilight Series. I enjoyed each and every book. New Moon was my least favorite book due it its slow nature. However, reading it for the second time last week - it became my second favorite. The movie, while naturally did not follow the book to the T, was a pretty good interpretation and I was very pleased with how the wolves were portrayed. Nothing was too cheesy (except the scene when Alice was showing whats-his-face/The Volturi Guy that Bella would be changed into one of them- What was that about?).

My husband, a non Twilight Fan, enjoyed the music, which was great. I’m not a Muse fan. But the song they had on the soundtrack was pretty decent. Of course, Death Cab For Cutie always gets  a thumbs up in my book. So, I was happy that he wasn’t miserable the entire time!

I’ll go ahead and admit it. I’m Team Jacob. And after watching New Moon last night, I was dissapointed at how much they downplayed his and Bellas friendship. Jacob pretty much saved Bella after Edward left her.

And- as a side note - I remember being a teen and having that “first love” and how devestating it was when that first love turned out to be your first heartbreak. I don’t think this whole Edwardella (my name for them) thing is healthy. I mean, isn’t it fun to not be suicidal after your first break up? Isn’t it healthy to not want to jump off cliffs just to hear someone’s voice? I’m pretty sure this is not the direction I want my daughters to go in. And I hope that The Twilight Saga isn’t making tweenie girls put too much stake in their high school relationships…

However - I was dissapointed in the down play of Bella & Jacob’s friendship. I loved the easiness of their friendship and not the intensity that’s just pretty down right silly of Edwardella. So yeah, that’s my view.

I did love to hear at the end of the moive all the teenagers saying, “Oh man! I’ll have to wait til next year to find out?!”

Do they not realize that the movies are based on books and that they could just read to find out??
